Skippy’s Scrumpy now on tap at the Pig & Pickle micropub, Exeter
Stephen from the Pig & Pickle visited us to find out more about Venton’s Devon Cyder, here’s what he said’
‘Busy week here for changes, I changed the still cider for no other reason than I felt like it. I visited Mark Venton of Ventons Devon Cyder and what a lovely chap he is, I have learnt things about cider making, I have been back to school (cider lessons would have made school more fun).
Anyway, enough waffle, the cider is Skippy’s Scrumpy at 6.5% abv, here’s the spiel, “This dry, but not too dry, full-juice real cider, is made completely naturally from
a blend of Bittersharp and Bittersweet Vintage Devon ‘cyder’ apple varieties.
Using traditional methods, it is slowly fermented with wild yeast for complexity,
then matured over several months for roundness. With full-bodied soft tannins,
refreshingly crisp and fruity, this is as natural as it comes and a true representation of Devon’s oldest ‘cyder-making’ methods”
